Sample AI snapshot: who the AI engines name when Brisbane asks for a plumber

What the AI engines named

Named most often: Brisbane Plumbing and Drainage (7 of 20), Jetset Plumbing (6 of 20), AMD Plumbing & Gas (3 of 20). Domains cited most: jetsetplumbing.com.au (in 10 of 20 answers), hipages.com.au (in 6 of 20 answers), airtasker.com (in 6 of 20 answers).

See the electrician snapshot: same ten-question method, Brisbane electricians, run 7 November 2026.

A name ending in "…" was cut off where the stored answer ends: the harness keeps the first 600 characters of each answer.

What this means if you're a Brisbane plumber

Three things to take from the table. First, the engines do name specific businesses for these questions, so the answer is not empty; when a homeowner asks an AI who to call, somebody gets recommended. Second, look at the "cited domains" column: that is where the engines are reading from. If most of them are directories, review sites and "best plumbers in Brisbane" lists, then being on those pages, with current reviews, matters more than anything on your own site. If an engine quoted a plumber's own page, that page exists because someone wrote a plain answer to the question. Third, answers move. Run the same question next month and some names will change. We cannot make an engine name you, and we do not say we can. What we can do is measure which questions you are absent from, show where the engines are looking, and re-measure after the work.

Method

• Engines: Perplexity Sonar, and OpenAI's gpt-6-luna model with its native web search, both through the OpenRouter API, on 31 October 2026. The GPT model is a proxy for ChatGPT, not ChatGPT itself. A paid snapshot also covers Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, and Gemini, in logged-out sessions.
• Questions: the ten listed in the table, written the way a Brisbane homeowner would ask. Asked once each, with no location setting beyond the words in the question.
• Recorded: the first 600 characters of each answer and every URL cited, in order.
• Answers vary by session, location and day. One run is a sample, not a ranking of Brisbane plumbers, and this page should not be read as a recommendation of any business.
• No business named on this page was contacted, and none paid to be here. aeoservices.com.au is not affiliated with any business named on this page.
• Raw data: every stored answer and citation (JSON, CC BY 4.0).

Questions

Why plumbers?

Because it is a trade everyone understands and a question people genuinely ask an AI in a hurry: a burst pipe at 9pm is exactly when someone types "emergency plumber Brisbane" into whatever assistant is on their phone. We wanted a sample where the answer names real businesses, not articles. The same method works for any trade or profession.

My business is in the table. Can you remove it, or is this an ad?

It is not an ad and nobody paid to be here. The names are what the engines said on the day, recorded as data. If you are named and would like a note added or the row removed, email us from the address on the contact page and we will do it within two business days.

My business is not in the table. What would a snapshot tell me?

The free snapshot takes the one question your customers would ask and runs it on ChatGPT, Perplexity, Google AI Overviews and AI Mode, and Gemini. You get back what each said, who it named and which pages it used, in an email within two business days. It is measurement, not a sales call, and it is right whether or not there is anything worth doing afterwards.
